Have you ever seen a movie when there is an act of sexual violence in a scene and you think to yourself (at least I hope you do), this is really terrible!? This might be what you are thinking if something like this has never happened to you, but if if has, you aren't just thinking this is terrible, you are thinking about what happened to you. I personally cannot watch anything that has to do with this in movies. It is a trigger and I will not stop thinking about my own experiences for days. Nightmare after nightmare of my own memories flooding in my mind and my dreams, haunting me.
This is a subject I do not usually talk about. I do not like to share my own story. It is not only horrifying for me, it is also embarrassing. It is shameful to me because of the people involved. People who should have been protectors of me, not predators. This is what they were and what they will always be considered to me, predators.
Anyway, enough about me. Let's go into the subject of this blog. Rape jokes, these are also hard for me. For anyone who thinks rape jokes are funny, they are NOT! Screaming RAPE when someone is hugging you as a joke is not funny. Also, saying something like "that Chem tested raped me", also NOT funny. Things like this are said by immature people (in all cases I have heard, are immature guys) who obviously have not been assualted or do not know someone who has been assaulted. If you do know someone who has, and still say things things, I am disgusted by you, you should know better. Please everyone just stop with the rape jokes! They are not funny! They may even bring back memories. Things like this are not okay to say anywhere to go anyone. You might not even know that the person sitting next to you has been raped or sexually assaulted. Please guys, and gals, be considerate and just stop!
